I come contrite, sad to admit I have not gotten as much done as I had planned. I have made some progress, mostly by dogged determination to have an update and the skin of my teeth, but it’s no where near what I had hoped to have finished. I’m almost moving onto the next color, there’s just the last little square in the midst of all the navy blue that needs to be filled in before I can move on. I’m going off of the symbols on the pattern right now so I have no clue what the next color will be, so that’s going to be fun to find out.
I did manage to finish the audio book, however! I won’t spoil the ending in case anyone else is reading / interested in reading The Ball and the Cross. I will say that I was pleasantly surprised how the very first chapter, which seemed to only be tangentially connected to the story, comes full circle at the end. I’ll admit that it was a more open ended finish than I was expecting, but not in a bad way. Throughout the story the two main characters, as much as they were fighting each other, were also fighting the world and some of the most common wolrdviews they met. The finale chapters is more of a confrontation between the two characters and the world, rather than the two characters with each other. The Ball and the Cross might be more philosophical than most people might want in a leisure read, but it was still fun!
I hope to have a good update for the pattern next month, and a new audio book to provide that I’ve been listening to. I’ll have to see about either continuing in the Chesterton collection or breaking it up with a different fiction novel. Until next month for the Middle Earth map update!
