I’ve been working on the top left corner for the project and I’m slowly but surely making some progress. I decided to print out the two pages I’m working on rather than work from the PDF off my laptop (I didn’t want to print the PDF because it is like, 80 pages long, that’s way to much paper). I’ve been using the fact that I have a paper copy to better keep track of all the parts I’ve worked on, coloring in the boxes that have already been done so that I can keep track of where I am in the pattern. I wouldn’t normally do this, but the project is so large, and there are so many different colors next to each other, I think this will be the best way to check where I am and what colors are still needed.
Currently I’m still working on the color I started the border with, since it’s got large sections in the upper left corner, but I can already see all the spots with sporadic colors filling up the sections. Anyone who does counted cross stitch knows what I mean, those random one to two squares where the pattern has a different color put in for shading or contrast. I’m honestly glad that I am only going one page at a time through the pattern, because I think that looking at the whole thing at once would give me so much anxiety I wouldn’t be able to get through it.
On the audio book front I haven’t had a chance to listen too often and I am currently only 20% of the way through “the Ball and the Cross”. I did listen all the way through a candle making audio-book, which would probably have been better if I was reading a physical copy with pictures and diagrams. Also, which would have been better if I wasn’t learning about a different craft while working on a long term and complicated craft. But live and learn, as the saying goes. I’m aiming to be at least half way done with “the Ball and the Cross” by the time I next have an update for you on the Middle Earth map!
