Hello, Haro!

A couple of months ago I found an amigurumi pattern for a robot named “HARO”. They’re a mascot character for the TV series Mobile Suit Gundam. I had some free time on my hand, some yarn that I needed to use up and some leftover stuffing so I decided to give the pattern a shot. The first one I did was a mini Haro, (already completed in photo above), just so that I could experiment with getting the shape and size I wanted, along with making sure I had some idea about how to do the face / side embroidery. Currently when it comes to the large Haro I’m only about a third of the way through completing it. I’ve done all the increases and I am currently working my way up the middle portion, which is mind numbing but should be quick so long as I keep track of my stitches.

The main thing I’m considering right now is how to stuff the new, full sized Haro. According to the pattern I found, the original pattern maker suggested getting an old pillow from good will and using the stuffing for the full sized HARO as it needs a lot, and I think they’re right. I’ve used up most of the fiber fill I’ve had for the last few years (It’s been diminishing slowly but surely as my amigurumi Army grows). I’ve still got a little left, but as I’m looking at the growing full sized Haro and my bag of filling I’m realizing I may have over estimated how much fiber fill I had left.

Of course this means I need to go snooping through the local re-sale stores for a pillow that I can gut for it’s stuffing. It’s not really something I’m looking forward too as I always feel bad about “breaking” things, even if I’m the rightful owner who can do whatever they want with it. but that’s a problem I’ll tackle once I’m almost done with the decreases on the body for HARO.
