The photo for the post is having technical issues, we hope to have it up by the end of the day.
*Edit, the photo is up!*
We’re back with my cross stitch project, the map of Middle Earth!
I’ve started the actual stitching and I live in perpetual fear that I will have missed 1 stitch and absolutely mess up my whole entire project. I have counted and re-counted rows so many times it’s not even funny. So far it looks like I’ve planned my stitches out just fine though I’ll only have – at best – an inch of border. Framing this may be a nightmare but it’s a nightmare I’ll come to some 4-5 years down the line.
Usually when I’m knitting I’ll have the tv on so that I have something else to occupy my brain as I go row by row but that’s not really something that can do with cross stitch, since you really do need to be paying attention to what you’re hands are doing and where the colors are being placed. So instead of watching TV I’ve been listening to audio books while I cross stitch. Currently I am listening to the Audiobook “Orthodoxy” by G. K Chesterton. I’ve been enjoying it so far!
On a slightly happier note I managed to sort out all my threads, getting them into numerical order. On a less happy note, doing so showed me that I am still missing some threads! For some I just didn’t get enough, for others I missed them entirely. I guess it’s to be expected when you need some 200 colors but it’s still frustrating to go out and get them only to discover you’ve missed some. If nothing else I’m certain I can wait and work on the colors I do have for now.
I did enjoy getting them all divided by number and then orderly set into rows. There’s something calming about putting things into their proper places. I think that may be another reason I like crafting like knitting, crochet or cross stitch. My brain both likes the puzzle of making sure everything fits together and the orderly-ness of building something row by row.
I’m hoping by the time I have the next update I’l have finished making my way around the border, but there’s no guarantees, now that we’re moving into the holiday season proper it’s going to be getting busy. You’ll probably be seeing a few more baking posts going forward since we’ll be heading into the holiday baking season, so here’s to that!
