There wasn’t much progress done on the actual pattern this month as I needed to get some background work done. I finally decided to bite the bullet and update my pattern sheet by marking off all the completed stitches in black. I now have a better idea of what still needs to be done, but it was slow going as I marked off each stitch.
It’s nice to see because it’s proof that I have gotten a lot done as far as this part of the pattern goes (it’s still just a very small part of the whole but it’s something), but it was tedious and slow going. Part of the slow going was that I was marking off the sections on a new copy of the pattern. I tried using the old pattern but it didn’t look that good, and I want to make sure I didn’t accidentally fill in more of the pattern than I should or make the remaining parts of the pattern hard to read. The other part of the slow going was that I had to check the pattern against what work I had already done to make sure I was not including anything that hadn’t already been completed. It’s hard work to inch along the project square by square to make sure I got everything right. It’s been useful in noting where there are stray / missed colors that I’ve already completed and will need to go back in to fix, even though it’s frustrating. I already knew they were there but it’s all the more clear when you mark off a whole row of symbols as complete and then notice one stray square, hanging out empty two rows above.
Since I’ve been concentrating on the pattern so much I also haven’t been listening to the audio book, since I neither wanted to fill something in incorrectly on the pattern or miss a key detail in the mystery. It is a cozy-adjacent mystery so it’s not super complex, but I already have two suspects and no proof it’s them other than my own wild speculations. I don’t want to miss any of the clues to prove or disprove my theories.
I hope on the next update to have even more of this corner all filled out, so until next time!
