crafting Mid month Middle Earth

Mid-Month Middle Earth 3

I have finished the border on the cross stitch. Sort of.

I have had that starting line sitting in my drafts for the last few weeks, mostly so that I would have to have the border finished by this next update. It has been one of the driving factors that has had me spending hours working on the Middle Earth map to make sure that I do actually get it finished in time for this post.

Even better, I started at the top left corner and went down and to the right and made it roughly half way around the piece, then started and the top left corner and then when right and down, and the two different starting points met up on the other side like they were supposed to. So, unless I made the same mistake in the same spot, I’ve accurately followed the pattern.

Of course as the picture shows I haven’t really “finished” the border, I’ve only made my way all the way around the edge of the piece using the different colors. Now that I’ve gotten the broad borders of the pattern down I’m going to be going page by page through the pattern and it’s going to hopefully be a little more manageable. Maybe.

On the audio book front I’ve finished “Orthodoxy” and I am currently listening to “the Ball and the Cross” from the Chesterton collection. I think that the fiction books are going to be better for working on this project, mostly because while I liked “Orthodoxy” I think I would have gotten more out of the book if I had actually read it. That would have given me the chance to take periodic breaks to re-read sections and think about them rather than have someone else read it to me. I’ll have plenty of time while working on the project to see if I’m right.

I’m hoping to have an equally positive update next month but with the holiday’s really getting into the swing of things we’ll see how it goes.
